Join us to celebrate two years of our art truck by bringing the whole family together to enjoy a variety of hands-on artmaking, creative activities, and story time. During your visit, you can also stop by the new Art to G.O. mobile artist-in-residence exhibition (hosted by Axle Contemporary), Species Pending.

Planning to stop by for Family Day? RSVP ahead of time! While registration is not mandatory to attend, registering ahead of time helps us prepare. Thank you for helping us out!

Species Pending is an exhibition reimagining the historical narrative based on the proto-dinosaur Effigia okeeffeae, whose name is a tribute to Georgia O’Keeffe. This animal lived on the ancient continent of Pangea during the late Triassic period and its holotype fossils were found in blocks collected in the 1940s at Ghost Ranch, where O’Keeffe lived and owned a home.

Animkeewa White Eagle and Jamison Chās Banks, Santa Fe-based artists, collaborated to examine the history of the animal through an Indigenous lens. Using imagery, sculpture, and installation that is reminiscent of archived historical photographs and items, Banks and White Eagle aim to reinterpret how this fossil and animal is presented.

In an exciting collaboration, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is proud to partner with Axle Contemporary, an innovative mobile exhibition space also housed within a truck.

The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is proud to offer Family Day! Occurring on the second Sunday of every month, this event aims to bring the community together through hands-on artmaking, storytelling, and creative activities, as well as encouraging kids and families to take a new approach in looking at and interacting with art! Family Day is a free event offered in partnership with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum and Santa Fe Public Libraries.

Museum admission is free all day for New Mexico residents and Family Day Participants.

Upcoming Events

Large pinkish/orange shell that dominates most of the canvas, with a much smaller shell beside it on the lower left. Both are oval in shape and open to their undersides, exposing the dark glossy pink of the inside of a shell. They are nestled on a white cloth or tissue paper that has folds suggesting a depth, as if the objects are in a box. The larger shell is chipped on it's upper left tip.
