We invite you to join us for an introductory workshop to the medium of watercolor. Through a variety of exercises and demonstrations, you will learn techniques helping you create your own watercolor artworks. We will also explore works that Georgia O’Keeffe created using watercolor and discuss techniques she utilized. All experience levels are welcome to participate!
Materials needed for the class:
- watercolor paints
- round paintbrushes (small, medium and large preferred)
- watercolor paper
- table salt
- white crayon
About your instructor:
Jordan Merlino is a Non-Binary paper-artist from Baltimore, Maryland. Jordan graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art with their BFA in 2015. Jordan has led various acrylic and watercolor classes and workshops for all ages. Their artwork has been showcased in various galleries including CICA Museum, Foundry Arts Centre, and Gurl Museum Day. They currently live in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
This class is suitable for youth ages 12 and up. Children are welcome to participate alongside their adults.
This program will take place via the video conferencing app – ZOOM. Details for accessing the Zoom meeting will be with your receipt upon registering and again sent via email the day prior. Please register in advance in order to access the program.
This class is being offered on a sliding scale.
$10; minimal fee.
$20; covers the cost of the class.
$30; covers the cost of the class, plus a contribution to provide an art kit to a community member in need.
