Join artist Devon Burke for an introduction to visual journaling, an expressive visual art process that involves the exploration and application of mixed media to the pages of a notebook or sketchbook. Your visual journal could be a collection of mixed media pages with free form expression, or a deep dive into connecting the arts with your innermost feelings and reflections of the world. This course will show the introductory process of gathering materials, making pages, and simple exercises for the beginning steps in creating an artistic journal. This is a mixed media course and participants should be prepared to use a variety of watercolor and acrylic paints as well as collaged and collected items.

Supplies:

  • Watercolors and/or acrylic paints
  • HB pencil
  • Adhesive (elmer’s glue, rubber cement, or glue stick) and a brush for application
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Various paper scraps/clippings of choice
  • Paper Towel
  • Permanent Pens/Markers (optional)
  • Oil Pastel (optional)
