Creative Futures Take Shape: 2026 Interns Ready for Summer and Their Future

July 2, 2026

Each summer, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum welcomes a dynamic cohort of interns who bring curiosity, creativity, and fresh perspectives to the Museum’s work. This year, interns will focus on the Museum’s Art & Leadership program, developing lessons and curriculum for a summer camp that encourages middle school students to explore creativity through artmaking, theater, music, writing, and self-expression.

Meet the 2026 Interns

Edyth Seymour

Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri
University of New Mexico, Class of 2025

Edyth was drawn to the program for its strong focus on art education and is eager to gain hands-on experience working with young learners in a creative setting. During the summer, she will work closely with students to incorporate restorative practices into their artmaking, including leading an exercise in which participants create self-portraits without the use of mirrors or references to encourage introspection and self-expression. Looking ahead, she is exploring several future paths, including pursuing further education in art, education, or both, while also considering a return to her undergraduate field, working with non-human primates.

During his internship, he will facilitate mixed-media lessons that encourage students to explore the sentimental aspects of their lives through personal storytelling and art. Looking ahead, he plans to move to Brooklyn in the fall to pursue a career in museum education, with long-term goals of gaining curatorial experience and potentially earning an MFA in museum studies or art history.

During his internship, he will teach a lesson on color theory and a variety of color schemes, guiding students as they compile their compositions into zines that serve as creative field guides. Looking ahead, Ethan hopes to pursue graduate school and continue exploring teaching as a career while also working toward personal goals of embarking on a long-distance bicycle tour and always making space in his life for art.

Claudia Marin

Hometown: Santa Fe, New Mexico
University of New Mexico, Class of 2027

After a rewarding experience as an intern last summer, Claudia returns to the O’Keeffe eager to take on a greater leadership role while watching returning students continue to grow as artists and learners. This summer, she will lead a lesson inspired by comic books, examining how illustrators use the medium to tell stories while drawing connections to the work of Tewa Nangeh/Tewa Country co-curator Jason Garcia, who often incorporates comic-book imagery into his work. As she continues to explore the museum field, she hopes to pursue graduate studies in digital animation and museum archiving, with long-term aspirations of building a career that combines museums, creativity, and children’s programming.
