Glen Canyon: America’s Lost National Park

January 7, 2022

This talk is an exploration of the reemerging wonders of Glen Canyon, once considered “America’s Lost National Park”. Eric Balken and Jack Stauss of Glen Canyon Institute discuss the iconic landmarks and massive ecosystems that are emerging as overuse and climate change draw down the levels of Lake Powell reservoir. They also share a history of artists and photographers who documented Glen Canyon before it was drowned, and the ones who are capturing its rebirth today.

Eric is the executive director of Glen Canyon Institute, and has been working in Colorado River Policy for over a decade. Jack is the Outreach Director and Office Director of Glen Canyon Institute.

This program was presented on January 5, 2022 as a part of the Museum’s Breakfast with O’Keeffe series.
