  • 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM MT
  • Online

Space is limited, registration required. Please email contact@gokm.org or call 505.946.1000 for assistance with event registration.

Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s art and her collection of shells, rocks, bones, and found objects, this intermediate-level class will focus on practicing an observational watercolor study of objects found in nature. Through interactive demonstrations, instructor Sudeshna Sengupta will guide participants through capturing the essential characteristics and tonal beauty of shells, rocks, and more in watercolor while remaining mindful of compositional balance and contrast. Participants can use their own collection of objects or can follow along with the shells and rocks used during the live-demonstration. This class has been designed especially to coincide with and celebrate the traveling exhibition, O’Keeffe and Moore, currently on display at the Albuquerque Museum.

This class is suitable for youth ages 12 and up. Children are welcome to participate alongside their adults.

Space is limited, reservations required.

This program will take place via the video conferencing app – ZOOM. Details for accessing the Zoom meeting will be with your receipt upon registering and again sent via email the day prior. Please register in advance in order to access the program. Note that all program times are in Mountain Time.

Much of this small painting is occupied by a large tan clam shell. The shell seems to be partially open, and it offers a glimpse inside along its upper edge. The shell's hinge lies near the right side of the work. Branches of seaweed swirl behind the shell along the upper edge of the painting.
