Create with O’Keeffe: Tree Trunk Magnets

  • Thursday, April 18
  • 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM MT
  • SOUTHSIDE LIBRARY | 6599 JAGUAR DR, SANTA FE, NM 87507

Create your own kitchen magnet inspired by the beauty of the world around us.

In honor of our special exhibition, Rooted in Place, join experienced artist Christina Kortz in decorating and painting a tree slice with an image of your choice – a landscape, a flower, or even an abstract drawing! When you’re done, you can attach a magnet on the back of your tree slice and create your very own magnet decoration for your home.

Christina Kortz has been with the O’Keeffe Museum since the year 2000. She began as an Education Coordinator and Family Programs Manager, and now works as a Museum Educator and Gallery Guide. Christina is an experienced arts educator, illustrator, fashion stylist, and dancer.

Cottonwood trees are rendered abstractly in this work. Bright, soft patches of yellow and green, which represent foliage, are highlighted by sharper white lines. The brown trunk and branches are slightly visible beneath the yellow/green leaves. Bits of blue sky peek through the leaves in the upper half of the work.
