Georgia O’Keeffe Museum to Receive 2017 Mayor’s Arts Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—August 31, 2017 (Santa Fe, NM)—The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is among the recipients of the 2017 Mayor’s Arts Awards. The City of Santa Fe Arts Commission and Mayor Javier M. Gonzales announced on Wednesday that the Museum is one of seven chosen honorees. The Mayor’s Arts Awards acknowledge individuals and institutions in the community that represent excellence in arts, culture, heritage, and philanthropy. The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is this year’s recipient in the field of Visual Arts.
“This award from Mayor Gonzales and the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission is a meaningful honor,” says Roxanne Decyk, Chair of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Board of Trustees. “This year marks the Museum’s 20th anniversary. When we look back on 2017, the Mayor’s Arts Awards will be a notable part of this milestone.”

The awards highlight cultural leaders, and affirm the importance of the arts in Santa Fe. Members of the Commission and Mayor Gonzales select the recipients from submitted nominations. The annual presentation ceremony and dinner will take place on Friday, October 27, 2017.
