Garden with O’Keeffe

  • Monday, July 11
  • 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM MT
  • Abiquiu Home & Studio

Join one of our expert guides on an exterior-only tour of Georgia O’Keeffe’s verdant gardens at her historic home in Abiquiú, NM. Explore the vegetable garden, the flower garden, and the fruit trees that populate the property while learning about the traditional acequia irrigation.

After the tour, gather around for a hands-on workshop on growing and preserving herbs (an important practice of Georgia O’Keeffe’s). This experience will invigorate your senses with the aroma of lavender and the tastes of fresh herbal refreshments. Workshop leader, Linda Churchill, head gardener at Santa Fe Botanical Garden, will offer local expertise on horticulture and gardening and leave you with recommendations to explore more gardens of Northern New Mexico.

A winding road enters the scene from the base of the canvas in the center. It curves to the right before weaving off into the distance to the left. A large, light-colored mesa rises from the right side of the work, its hills sloping down towards the left. Several trees dot the landscape in the foreground, and the sky appears hazy.
