After completing the renovation of her Abiquiú adobe home in 1949, Georgia O’Keeffe continued to transform it into a deeply personal environment that reflected her way of living and working. More than a residence, it became an evolving space shaped by her artistic philosophy of “taking time to look,” where lived experience and material surroundings were carefully arranged to deepen the relationship between form, dwelling, and observation. Spaces of Becoming explores how the home informed her artistic practice, revealing the interplay between everyday life, intimate domestic details, and the natural world.

A large rock fills much of the canvas. It rests on a flat surface and casts a slim shadow underneath its left side. The rock is dark in color; however, a lighter area towards the left side seems to reflect a bit of light. The background is also light.
