Fine Art Friday at the Santa Fe Children’s Museum: Farolitos
Take part in a decades old New Mexico tradition!
Join us in decorating farolitos using fun cutouts, stickers, and tissue paper. Then, take some sand and a battery-operated tea light home with you to place it in your front yard or garden!
Farolitos are traditional paper lanterns used during the holiday season, especially in New Mexico. They are made from paper bags with sand and a candle inside. This tradition is part of a larger one that involves lighting pathways, with the name “farolito” meaning “little lantern”.
