The upper portion of a palm tree is visible on the left side of the paper. Several palm fronds, rendered by softly smeared applications of charcoal, extend from the tree and fill the paper. One particularly long charcoal mark sweeps across much of the canvas at a slight diagonal and helps to form the palm fronds.
