Join us as we journey into the world of printmaking! In this introductory class, we will explore the foundational principles and techniques used in block printing.

This program will take place in the Education Annex at 123 Grant Avenue, Santa Fe, NM.

Early in her career, Georgia O’Keeffe studied with the painter and printmaker Arthur Wesley Dow. In addition to his work as an artist and educator, Dow was the assistant curator for Japanese art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. His work with the museum’s collection of ukiyo-e woodblock prints heavily influenced his own printing practice and had a tremendous impact on a generation of artists from O’Keeffe to Charles Burchfield and beyond.

In this class, we will begin with an exclusive, short tour of the galleries for inspiration, and then we’ll head to the classroom to explore block printing through a combination of in-person technique demonstration and practice contemporary block relief printing. This workshop is great for anyone interested in printmaking as a medium, looking to build skills in printmaking, and/or already has experience in printmaking that they want to expand on.

This class is suitable for youth ages 12 and up. Children are welcome to participate alongside their adults.

Space is limited, reservations required.

Registration (all supplies are included) Members $35/Non-members $45
