Georgia O’Keeffe carefully decorated her home and studio, blending art and design to turn her space into an artist’s sanctuary.

Inspired by the thought of bringing special objects into our homes, take some time creating your own ceramic tableware! In this class, learn how to create plates and/or small appetizer trays by applying the slab technique, adding textures, and layering colorful underglazes. During the workshop, participants can expect to make up to 4 small pieces which will be created from food-safe clay/underglaze.

NOTE: The pieces created in this class will need to dry and undergo firing by Amber after the workshop. They will be ready for pick-up at the Museum after 2-3 weeks. Shipping finished pieces is also an option for out-of-town participants.

This class is suitable for youth ages 12 and up. Children are welcome to participate alongside their adults.

Space is limited, reservations required. Please email contact@gokm.org or call 505.946.1000 for assistance with event registration.

This class will meet at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum’s Creativity Studio, which is located on the corner of Marcy Street and Grant Avenue, Santa Fe, NM. Registrants will be notified 24 hours in advance if the lesson is to be canceled.

Large pinkish/orange shell that dominates most of the canvas, with a much smaller shell beside it on the lower left. Both are oval in shape and open to their undersides, exposing the dark glossy pink of the inside of a shell. They are nestled on a white cloth or tissue paper that has folds suggesting a depth, as if the objects are in a box. The larger shell is chipped on it's upper left tip.
