March 24, 2017

Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

You know Georgia O’Keeffe as the iconic woman in black. How did she come by her distinctive style? Join host Mara Harris with Georgia O’Keeffe Museum curator Carolyn Kastner, in conversation about O’Keeffe’s early adoption of an innovative and streamlined style. We’ll discuss style versus fashion, how her distinctive look became part of O’Keeffe’s fame, and how she integrated a modern simplicity, stripped of ornamentation, that was a thread of continuity throughout her life and art.

This dialog will also discuss the exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, Opening March 3, called Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern, which showcases O’Keeffe’s clothing. Tune in to hear the story behind the style!
