Family Day: Lines, Circles, and Shapes, Oh My!

Join us for a very special Family Day featuring a performance by the Santa Fe Symphony Sierra String Quartert! Explore the connection between shapes, emotion, and music through a variety of hands-on artmaking, storytime, and creative activities.

  • 10:30 AM–2:30 PM | Tie-Dye Bandanas with the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum
  • 11 AM–12 PM | Story Time in the Galleries with Santa Fe Public Library
  • 11 AM–1 PM | Creative Activities with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum
  • 12 PM–12:30 PM | Special Performance by The Sierra String Quartet

The Sierra String Quartet is made up of students in The Santa Fe Symphony youth program. Learn more about The Santa Fe Symphony’s initiatives to inspire young musicians and build community here.

The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is proud to offer Family Day! Occurring on the second Sunday of every month, this event aims to bring the community together through hands-on artmaking, storytelling, and creative activities, as well as encouraging kids and families to take a new approach in looking at and interacting with art! Family Day is a free event offered in partnership with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum and Santa Fe Public Libraries.

Museum admission is free all day for New Mexico residents and Family Day Participants.

Upcoming Events

Painting of the church from the rear, a vantage point that allowed O'Keeffe to explore the blocky, geometric qualities of its adobe walls. Enlarging and exaggerating these forms, she portrayed the church as if it were an organic growth emerging from the earth.

Vertical painting with a large black cross spanning the surface of the picture plane with a massive cross beam running across the upper quadrant and the base stem running the vertical length of the painting. The cross is slightly off center to the viewers left. Looming behind the cross is a rolling mountain range of deep blues hues. Soft white light illuminates the edge of mountain tops and rises into a glorious gradation of of turquoise and blue sky, dotted with white circular stars.
