Exploring the Library & Archive Exhibition “Modernist Circle”

Georgia O’Keeffe was connected to a community of avant-garde artists, authors, and critics committed to expressing and promoting a uniquely American identity in the early twentieth century. In its new exhibition Modernist Circle, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Library & Archive explores the circle of influential modern artists and writers to which O’Keeffe belonged by featuring rarely seen artworks from the collection, inscribed books, and other materials from the archive.  

Hear from Elizabeth Ehrnst , Head of Research Collections and Services at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and curator of the Modernist Circle exhibition, to learn more about this project and the interpersonal connections it visualizes through archived material. The program will then transition into a discussion about the value of research libraries and how archived materials can be accessed to support diverse research projects.

About the Speaker:

Elizabeth Ehrnst is the Head of Research Collections and Services at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, where she strategically leads and oversees the Research Collections and Services department, including developing and maintaining archival and library collections, research and reference, access services, outreach, and exhibitions. She holds a Master of Library Science degree from Indiana University specializing in art librarianship and digital libraries and has been working within the field of archives and librarianship for over two decades.

The library exhibition is open and free to the public by advance appointment Tuesday–Friday, 9 AM–noon.
