Studio Showcase: Sophie Kissin Jewelry

July 27, 2020

Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

You are invited to virtually visit the studio of one of the many wonderful artisans featured in the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Store.

Join jewelry designer and metalsmith, Sophie Kissin to learn about her artistic practice and her jewelry. Inspired by the art and objects collected by her grandparents, scientific illustrations of Maria Sybilla Merian, gourds and wildflowers, Chinese ink painting, Japanese ukiyo-e, and Rinpa School painting, gardens and wild landscapes, Scandinavian design, and Art Nouveau decorative arts, Sophie’s jewelry blends organic, feminine forms and natural motifs with modern design. She sees her jewelry as functional, handcrafted artworks for elevated everyday wear.

As part of this program, we are launching a month-long virtual pop-up store highlighting the Studio Showcase artisan’s incredible work to help support our local creative community during this difficult time.

Studio Showcase is supported in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and by the National Endowment for the Arts. This video was hosted as part of the Mornings with O’Keeffe series.
