October 23, 2020

Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

Being a full-time artist can be incredibly stressful, especially in this day and age. Melissa Smith-Wilkinson, Yoga Alliance ERYT® 500 educator and Executive Director of Caregiver Wellness Retreat, will guide you through 3 essential principles for well-being, simple breathing techniques designed to relieve anxiety and improve creativity, and help you start (or reignite) a regular mindfulness practice to help manage stress.

Melissa offers Restorative and Sustainable Yoga teacher training, international yoga retreats, and is a Mindfulness Educator. Native Texan, Melissa currently lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her husband Richard and her son Drew where she operates a boutique studio, Pranava Yoga Studio which is now virtual. Melissa is also a docent with the O’Keeffe Museum and her love of art comes from a long legacy of family porcelain art painters also from New Mexico, and currently hosts a weekly yoga, art, and poetry series online.

The Business of Art is a free professional development series for artists focusing on key skills and concepts needed to turn a studio practice into a thriving business.

This program was recorded September 23rd, 2020. This project is supported in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
