Stipends in American Modernism |
|
The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Research Center sponsors full-time scholarships in American Modernism from the late nineteenth-century to the present. Stipends are awarded to historians in the fields of art, architecture and design, literature, music and photography. Research Center scholars have access to the archive and library collections of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum as well as collections from archival and library institutions across the Albuquerque and Santa Fe communities. In addition to those resources, the scholarship program strives to provide a supportive community and environment for scholars to pursue their research and writings.
Eligibility Awards are made to (a) doctoral candidates who have fulfilled all preliminary requirements for the Ph.D. and whose work is under the direction of a faculty member from their own institution, (b) scholars who hold a doctorate or comparable degree and/or experience, and (c) museum professionals. Selection Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the innovative quality of the proposed project, and the originality and intellectual rigor of the individual's previous scholarly work. A selection committee of scholars in relevant fields reviews the applications. Terms Up to four scholars are in residence at one time, with terms ranging from periods of three-to-nine months. The terms follow the academic period from September through August of each year. The following stipends are available for three categories: Pre-doctoral ($3,500/month), Post-doctoral ($4,500/month), and Senior ($4,500/month). In addition to the stipends, scholars are provided an office space in the Research Center. Terms are not renewable and cannot be extended. Recipients are expected to be in residence during the period of the award and to take part in the life of the Research Center.
