O'Keeffe Art and Leadership
The Museum offers paid summer internships in Santa Fe, New Mexico for college students to assist in administering the O’Keeffe Art and Leadership Program for Girls and the O’Keeffe Art and Leadership Program for Boys. These gender-based programs offer an exciting opportunity to work in a creative, high-energy, and fun environment. The programs provide adolescent girls and boys, ages 11-13, with opportunities for independent thinking, skill-building, and problem solving, all within the context of the development of their artistic talents. Professional museum staff, artists, and interns lead the programs and serve as role models. The application deadline is March 1.
Requirements
Interest and desire to spend a challenging summer in an energetic environment with a staff dedicated to fostering creativity and resiliency in youth. Interns should have experience with age group and interest in the arts and leadership skills. Interns must be responsible and reliable with a flexible work attitude, an ability to "think on your feet" in assisting Program Coordinators, and enjoy working as a team.Some Internship Responsibilities Include:

- Attend pre-program staff training including Red Cross First Aid and CPR
- General office work
- Daily maintenance of site and supplies
- Interaction with families and community
- Facilitate games, activities and discussions
- Co-lead art and leadership lessons
- Assist and participate in professional artist workshops
- Co-lead field trips, including overnights
- Prepare for final boys/girls art exhibition/reception
- Complete all evaluations and final exit interviews
Stipend
- Art and Leadership Program for Girls - $3,000 (10 weeks) - First week of June to mid-August with an average of 45 hrs per week.
- Art and Leadership Program for Boys - $2,700 (9 weeks) - First week of June to mid-August with an average of 45 hrs per week.

- Resume.
- A personal letter stating reasons for wanting to be an intern, including goals; what the intern hopes to achieve from the experience; how the internship relates to career plans; what he/she believe they can contribute to the Museum; personal information including interests and abilities.
- Specific information including: dates available to work; number of hours per week; if doing this for University credit, supply school requirements and advisor's name.
- Copy of college transcripts.
- Three letters of recommendation- at least one from a college professor. Reference letters should answer the following questions:
- How long has the author known the prospective intern and in what capacity?
- Identify candidate's strengths and weaknesses in regards to the position requested.
- What qualities does the candidate offer the program or department?
- What will the candidate gain from an internship with the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum?
- Would the author have any reservations about employing the applicant?
