For the first time ever, Georgia O’Keeffe’s artwork is on exhibition in Europe. Organized by the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Georgia O’Keeffe: A Retrospective opened in Rome in October and will travel to Munich and Helsinki in 2012.

Around the world, viewers of O’Keeffe’s art are moved in a way that defies simple explanations. She is an American icon, an inspiration, a model of independence and vision.

Each year the Museum passes O’Keeffe’s gifts along to 2,400 children in school and after-school programs, as well as to exhibition visitors.

Annual contributions keep the cost of admission as low as possible, and support outreach and educational programs like the Art and Leadership Program for Girls and for Boys, which costs the Museum about $800 per child.

Great art touches us all in different ways, but it touches us deeply and stays with us forever.
