Spring Art Session at Georgia O'Keeffe's Abiquiu Home

Location, Location, Location... and Inspiration! 

This rare opportunity to sketch and watercolor independently at O'Keeffe's Home and Studio in Abiquiu, New Mexico will be a unique experience for any artist or fan of Georgia O'Keeffe - in the beautiful season of Spring.  

Enjoy a half day or full day to sketch, draw, or watercolor on the grounds of Georgia O'Keeffe's home. Create in the beauty of the landscape that inspired O'Keeffe for over 40 years. Experience, en plein aire, such panoramic views as the Chama River Valley, the Sangre de Cristo mountain range, the Abiquiu Mesa, the road to Abiquiu - and the scene within the walls of O'Keeffe's garden. Space is limited to ten people per session, register early!  
When: Monday, May 20, 2013; 7 AM to 6 PM

Cost: $325 per person, half-day session; $600, full-day session

The Morning Session

7:00 am: Check in at the Georgia O’Keeffe Home & Studio Tour Office                
7:15 am: Shuttle departs Tour Office                                                                           
7:30 am: Tour of the Georgia O’Keeffe Home & Studio (optional)                            
7:30 am: 11:30 am, Sketching Time                                                                                                 
11:30 am: 12:00 pm, Return to Tour Office                                                                                       

The Afternoon Session

1:00 pm: Meet at the Georgia O’Keeffe Home & Studio Tour Office                        
1:15 pm: Shuttle departs Tour Office                                                                            
1:30 pm: Tour of the Georgia O’Keeffe Home & Studio (optional)                           
1:30 pm: 5:30 pm, Sketching Time                                                                                                 
5:30 pm: 6:00 pm, Return to Tour Office                                                                                       

We recommend the following:

Bring bottled water and/or beverages for yourself along with snack foods for the session, if desired.

Bring a small, portable easel/stool.

Comfortable shoes, sun hats, umbrella, and jackets appropriate for the weather.

In warmer weather, mosquitoes can be a problem so having your choice of bug spray is advisable.

To protect this unique Historic Property and for security reasons, we request the following be followed: No photography or video taping is allowed by camera or cell phone.  (Note - There is no cell service in the Abiquiu area.) Do not remove, move, or touch objects on the premises. No pets (trained service animals are exempt). No other unescorted visitors will be allowed on the property. For the tour portion of the Home & Studio, all bags, backpacks, totes and other art equipment shall be left in a secured and locked shuttle.
